HVDC Tyrrhenian Link

Tyrrhenian HVDC landings: CEBAT’s contribution with Prysmian and Terna.

CEBAT contributed to the construction of the HVDC cable landings for the Tyrrhenian Link project, one of the main strategic infrastructures for strengthening the Italian electricity grid and integrating renewable energy.

Working in collaboration with Prysmian and Terna, CEBAT carried out specialized activities related to land-sea landings, ensuring high technical, environmental, and safety standards in highly complex contexts.

Activities included:

  • Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) for the installation of cable ducts at landing sites, minimising the impact on the coastal strip;
  • Coordination of offshore activities, using marine equipment and divers to float and lay HDPE pipes to house the two pole cables, the two electrodes, and the fibre optic cable.
